GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The Sister Cities programs for Arts and Culture seeks to address a variety of issues related to Arts and Culture:
- To strengthen cultural diplomacy as the foundation of public diplomacy
- To increase the capacity of member communities to design and deliver effective institutional and community programs that incorporate innovative solutions around the issues of Arts and Culture
- To enhance America's global relationships community through community participation
- To educate the members about the importance of Arts and Culture and the types of projects and programs that support accountable global citizenship
- To create and sustain long-term and mutually beneficial partnerships focused around specific issues of Arts and Culture
- To establish solid financial and human resources from each sister city partnership to generate significant support and funding
Sister Cities International, on behalf of over 700 member communities in the United States, linked in partnership with over 1,800 communities in 137 countries around the world is a nonprofit citizen diplomacy network creating and strengthening partnerships between U.S. and international communities in an effort to increase cultural diplomacy and to promote cross cultural understanding.
