Duties & Responsibilities
The Communications & Marketing Manager/Director is responsible for the development and management of the Sister Cities' message, media relations and collateral material development. The Communications & Marketing Manager/Director develops the strategic and tactical communications plan, writes press releases and op-eds, drafts and edits printed and electronic member communications as well as materials for conferences and meetings, oversees the web strategy, writes speeches, develops marketing plans and strategies, and responds to media inquires from across the globe.
Knowledge & Abilities
The Communications & Marketing Manager/Director will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and should be a self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a team environment. S/he must have excellent people and communication skills, the ability to multitask with high attention to detail, be able to write, edit, and bring. working knowledge of traditional and online (blogosphere) media strategies. The Communications & Marketing Manager/Director will serve as one of the spokespeople for the organization to media or other external sources.
Requirements & Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in communications, journalism or public relations or three-to-five years of related work experience
- Demonstrated outstanding writing and communications skills are required
- Experience developing printed and electronic materials for an association or international nonprofit
- A good knowledge and success of online communications strategies and marketing for a membership-based organization. Web content management experience, knowledge of HTML preferred
- Strong proactive and reactive media relations skills
- Ability to manage production schedules, vendors relations, and project budgets
- Organization and leadership skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office software, media databases, executive presentation software
- Knowledge of a foreign language is desired.
- Experience with international organizations and travel a plus
