FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                    July 25, 2006

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Frank Tripicchio of Bakersfield, California was elected to the Sister Cities International Board of Directors during the Annual Board Meeting on July 15, 2006.  The meeting was part of the Sister Cities International 50th Anniversary Conference held in Washington, D.C.

He has been an active member of the sister city organization in Bakersfield since 1998, acting first as a member of the Board of Directors and for the past three years as its chair. "I have developed a deep understanding of the work that it takes to make a local chapter a vital part of the community," said Tripicchio.

Born in the southern region of Italy, Tripicchio immigrated to the United States in 1961 and moved to Bakersfield, New Jersey.  He was appointed by the Superintendent of Schools to an Advisory Committee for the Panama School District and he was also a real estate professional for several years.

Along with six other candidates, Tripicchio was elected to a three-year term to the Sister Cities International Board of Directors.  A State Coordinator Representative, a Young Professional Ambassador Association Representative and a Youth Representative were also elected to one-year terms.
