MARK D. WALTON ELECTED TO SISTER CITIES INTERNATIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Mark D. Walton of New York City was elected to the Sister Cities International Board of Directors during the Annual Board Meeting on July 15, 2006. The meeting was part of the Sister Cities International 50th Anniversary Conference held in Washington, D.C.
Walton is the head of sponsorship and corporate development for The Africa Channel, a new independent television network that brings Americans closer to daily life in Africa through entertainment and informational programming. He is previously the CEO of Onyx Media Group International and spent more than ten years at CBS Television Network. He has been an adjunct instructor at Fordham University's Graduate School of Business and serves on the Board of the Frederick Douglass Creative Arts Center.
"I believe that Americans should view themselves as citizens of the world," said Walton. Although he was born and raised in New York, his parents are from Barbados and his wife hails from Senegal, West Africa.
Along with six other candidates, Walton was elected to a three-year term to the Sister Cities International Board of Directors. A State Coordinator Representative, a Young Professional Ambassador Association Representative and a Youth Representative were also elected to one-year terms.
