About Community Connector
Community Connector (C2) is an online database used to link international donors and recipients of material aid, knowledge, and volunteer opportunities. Sister Cities International, with support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), developed C2 to allow for a more efficient distribution of material aid and expertise worldwide. C2 can NOT be used to solicit or provide financial aid.
C2 is aimed in particular at international NGOs that do not have the resources or expertise to find aid for their projects. All potential recipients of aid must be NGOs in good standing in their country, and have been vetted to ensure that they conform to international standards for NGOs and charitable organizations. Donors may be any individual or organization that wishes to help worthy causes throughout the world.
Using C2, potential recipients of aid can:
- Post a profile of their organization
- Post Project Requests that identify what their project is, and what type of aid they seek
- Be contacted by potential donors of aid
Using C2, potential donors of aid can:
- Search the database for organizations and projects based on type of project, type of aid requested, or geographic location
- Contact potential recipients of aid to offer resources, knowledge, or volunteers
- Create an organizational profile and track donations of aid
About Sister Cities International
Mission: Promote peace through mutual respect, understanding, & cooperation — one individual, one community at a time.
Sister Cities International is a nonprofit citizen diplomacy network that creates and strengthens partnerships between U.S. and international communities. We strive to build global cooperation at the municipal level, promote cultural understanding and stimulate economic development.
Sister Cities International is a leader for local community development and volunteer action. We motivate and empower private citizens, municipal officials and business leaders to conduct long-term sister city programs. We believe that sister city programs involve two-way communication and should mutually benefit partnering communities.
Our goals are to:
Develop municipal partnerships between U.S. cities, counties, and states and similar jurisdictions in other nations.
Provide opportunities for city officials and citizens to experience and explore other cultures through long-term community partnerships.
Create an atmosphere in which economic and community development can be implemented and strengthened.
Stimulate environments through which communities will creatively learn, work, and solve problems together through reciprocal cultural, educational, municipal, business, professional and technical exchanges and projects.
Collaborate with organizations in the United States and other countries which share similar goals.
