There are hundreds of Web sites with useful information on finding funding for your local organization. Here are a few:

iWAVE - Prospect Research Online
iWAVE offers an online database of prospective financial donors and grants for fundraisers.  iWAVE is no longer available through the Sister Cities International website. Please access iWAVE directly through the link above.

Grassroots Fundraising
The Grassroots Fundraising site has fundraising suggestions for small community organizations and a large archive of articles from their magazine.

FundraiserHelp.com
This site has useful information on fundraising ideas, events, and projects for local organizations. Much has to do with school or church fundraising, but there are a great many useful tips on this site that local sister cities organizations can use.

Grantproposal.com
Grantproposal.com offers free resources to grant writers.  It is set up for both the experienced and amateur.  It provides tips, advice from grant writers, and online links with information on grant writing.  It also displays practical information on the potential impact of your proposal and outlines key steps for obtaining a grant.  

Council on Foundations
A national association of grantmakers devoted to promoting and enhancing responsible philanthropy.  COF provides legal services, opportunities to network, and information on professional development and positive media exposure.  To access information about community foundations, quick link to Community Foundation Services/Community Foundation Locator. The map there will lead you to a community foundation in your area.

European Foundation Centre
An extensive list of funding organizations in many European countries. Funders' Web sites are easily accessed through EFC Members.

The Foundation Center
Just about everything you need to know about foundations in the United States is here. Its "Finding Funders" section contains links to hundreds of corporate and foundation sites. Their Philanthropy News Digest has news and reports on current items in philanthropy drawn from a variety of sources.

FundsnetServices
Full of information about philanthropic issues, funding sources, proposal writing, publications and other tips for fundraisers. Click on the "International" box on the home page to bring up a list of foundations and other funders to make grants to organizations doing international work.

The Grantmanship Center
A national organization providing training for fundraisers, maintaining extensive information on sources of funding and publishing a free newsletter for fundraisers. Check out their links to federal grants and funding sources, including an extensive list of international funders.

idealist.org: Nonprofit FAQ
Useful information on nonprofit organizations.  Visit the development section for information on topics such as grant-writing, fundraising, finding in-kind donations and more.

Nonprofit Resources: Grants, Funding and Organization Information, From The University Center
Features an array of links to information on anything from starting a nonprofit to grant-writing and finding federal, corporate and private funding sources. Features links to a broad range of nonprofit resources.

Nonprofit University (Aspen Publishers)
This site features information on numerous books of interest to those in the nonprofit world, including topics like fundraising and nonprofit administration. The books and other information can be ordered online.

The Chronicle of Philanthropy
A newspaper published every two weeks, it addresses issues in philanthropy, lists current grants from foundations and corporations, jobs and other important information about philanthropy.

Guide to Grantseeking on the Web, by the Foundation Center (The Foundation Center: 2001) The book has instructions for finding useful sites as well as tips for navigating them and finding the information you need. Also contains thumbnail sketches and Web site addresses for hundreds of private foundations, grantmaking public charities, and corporate grantmakers.

Successful Corporate Fund Raising, by K. Scott Sheldon (John Wiley & Sons: 2000) An excellent introduction to researching, cultivating and soliciting corporations for contributions to your organization.

Writing for a Good Cause by Joseph Barbato and Danielle S. Furlich (Fireside, Simon & Schuster: 2000)
A sometimes irreverent, but highly useful guide to writing proposals, case statements and reports-or anything else, for that matter.
