2010 Race & Festival Information
What is the 5K Race & Festival for World Peace?
2010 marks our second annual Race & Festival for World Peace, a 5k run/walk in Washington, DC. We anticipate more than 1,000 participants. The finish line features a World Cultures Festival with music, artistic performances, and food from an array of sister city countries represented in our international network. Last year's event brought together runners from 17 countries including Ethiopia, Russia, and China. Almost 20% of last year's participants were first-time competitive runners.
Why does Sister Cities International organize this event?
To raise visibility for Sister Cities International and its grassroots network of individual communities that advance world peace and educate the public on the importance of being an engaged global citizen.
