In order to add prestige and attract media coverage to your event, the Coordinating Committee should consider inviting a keynote speaker. This can be an elected official, education or business leader, and/or someone with name recognition who has a story to tell and a message to deliver about international engagement. High profile speakers not only attract media attention, but also encourage participation of organizations and members of the community.
Following is a list of possible keynote speakers to consider inviting:
- State Representative
- State Senator
- Governor/Lt. Governor
- Mayor
- City or town council members
- President of a local community college or university
- School Board members
- City manager/County planner
- Local "celebrities"
- Agency heads and local business leaders
- Coalition for Citizen Diplomacy leaders
