***The Wal-Mart Community Grant Program
*** allows local nonprofit organizations, such as schools, youth programs, fire departments, and libraries, to hold fundraisers at their local Wal-Mart or SAM'S CLUB. Through the Matching Grant Program, the store/club can elect to match a portion of the funds raised up to $1,000. Events held off the premises are also eligible for funding when a company associate is actively involved. Additionally, once each Wal-Mart or SAM'S CLUB has met certain criteria in the Matching Grant Program each year, a second source of funding is awarded to the store/club to use in the community. These funds do not require a fundraiser to be held, instead the funds can be awarded directly to deserving organizations.  Learn more about this opportunity!

Reader's Digest Foundation: Make It Matter
- The Reader's Digest Foundation is dedicated to creating opportunities and promoting efforts that encourage individuals to make a positive difference in their communities. The Make It Matter program, the Foundation's newest initiative, honors individuals who are taking action and giving back to their communities in a significant way. Each month, through 2008, Reader's Digest magazine will profile an individual who has made a significant contribution to his or her community. Considering the subject of the selected story, the Foundation will select an appropriate nonprofit organization and grant $100,000 to that organization in honor of the person featured in the story. The Mix It Up Grants Program, administered by the Southern Poverty Law Center, provides $500 grants to youth-directed activist projects that focus on identifying, crossing, and challenging social boundaries in schools and communities. Funded projects must promote collaboration across social boundaries ? different youth groups, clubs, or community groups working together. Ideally, the project should be created and implemented by youth; however, various adults and community volunteers should also be invited to participate.  Applications are accepted throughout the yearLearn more about this opportunity!

The Target Take Charge of Education
school fundraising program awarded $15.6 million to schools nationwide in its first donation of 2006. These dollars are donated to schools twice each year, and schools can use the funds for anything they need, from technology to books, school supplies, and grants. The fundraising program gives payout checks to schools in March and September. Sponsorships for Local Arts and Education Programs Barnes and Noble Sponsorships and Charitable Donations Program - Barnes & Noble, a national bookstore chain, provides in-store fundraising opportunities, sponsorships, and donations to local and regional nonprofit organizations that focus on literacy, the arts, or K-12 education.  Applicants must be located in the communities with company stores and should serve the greater good of the local community or region. A plan for promoting the program with Barnes & Noble should be included in the proposal. Barnes & Noble also provides limited support to national nonprofit organizations that focus on the company's grantmaking priorities.  Applications may be submitted at any time. Ben & Jerry's Foundation provides support to nonprofit, grassroots organizations throughout the United States that facilitate progressive social change by addressing the underlying conditions of societal and environmental problems. The Foundation doesn't prioritize any particular issue area for funding; the focus is on the types of activities and strategies an organization uses for creating social change in any number of areas. Grant applicants need to demonstrate that their projects will lead to societal, institutional, and/or environmental change; will address the root causes of social or environmental problems; and will lead to new ways of thinking and acting. The Bowerman Track Renovation Program, administered by Nike's Corporate Responsibility department, provides grants to youth-oriented organizations that seek to refurbish or construct running tracks anywhere in the world.  Special consideration will be given to existing running tracks in need of repair or refurbishment and tracks located in low- and moderate-income communities. Matching grants of up to $50,000 are provided.  Community-based, nonprofit, or nongovernmental organizations worldwide that serve youth ages 14-18 are eligible to apply. Deadline Grants

The Brower Youth Awards just launched the 2008 prize search for outstanding youth leaders.  We?re looking for individuals ages 13-22 with the power and persistence to create environmental change.  The Brower Youth Awards honors six young people annually with a $3000 cash award and weeklong trip to the San Francisco Bay Area.  During that week, award recipients will participate in a week of media and public outreach and be recognized at an awards ceremony attended by 900 members of the public.  Deadline May 15, 2008Learn more about this opportunity!

The Burger King Corporation's HAVE IT YOUR WAY Foundation provides support to nonprofit organizations that have long-term positive impact on the U.S. communities served by the company. The Foundation focuses the majority of its support on organizations that alleviate hunger, prevent disease, and provide youth programs. Additionally, the Foundation funds the BURGER KING Scholars Program, and, on a limited basis, supports the efforts of nonprofit institutions that seek to improve scholastic opportunities. PROJECT IGNITION TEEN DRIVER SAFETY GRANT - Sponsored by State Farm and the National Youth Leadership Council, Project Ignition is a national service-learning grant program that promotes safe teen driving. Auto accidents are the number one cause of teen deaths in America, and Project Ignition is working to change that. Through Project Ignition, students develop teen driver safety campaigns that change how their schools and communities approach teenage driving. Each school group creates a unique program and implements it in its own way. Applications are now being accepted for the 2008-09 school year. The first 100 applicants receive a copy of Getting Started in Service-Learning and a Project Ignition T-shirt! Foster's Community Grants, a program of the Foster's Group, a global company headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, provides support to nonprofit organizations in the United States, Canada, and Australia for community-building projects. Grants are provided in the following focus areas: wellness, including both physical and mental health; culture, including artistic, sporting, and educational activities; and the environment, including all aspects of the natural environment. The Save Our History Grant Program developed by the History Channel, provides funding to support collaboration between history organizations and schools or youth groups on projects that teach children about their local heritage and actively engage them in its preservation. For example, projects might focus on the history and/or preservation of a building, historic site, historic collections, or an historic event that is important to the local community. Funds are provided for primary research, physical preservation or clean-up efforts, historical documentation, archaeological or architectural studies, oral histories, and efforts to register a site for local, state, or national landmark status.  Deadline June 6, 2008. The LIVE GREEN Teacher Grant program, a Discovery Education program presented by General Motors, challenges middle school teachers to develop innovative ideas for furthering environmental and energy sustainability. Teachers will identify an issue or problem, create a plan to address it, and integrate the topic into classroom teaching.  40 grants will be awarded to teachers for the most forward-thinking ideas. The Neighborhood Excellence Initiative, Bank of America?s signature philanthropic program, recognizes, nurtures, and rewards nonprofit organizations and individuals working to improve their communities. The focus is on areas such as education, community development, arts and culture, and health and human services. The Initiative?s Neighborhood Builders category provides grants to two nonprofit organizations in each of the Bank?s 45 markets. ***The mission of the Baseball Tomorrow Fund, a joint initiative of Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association, is to promote and enhance the growth of baseball in the United States and throughout the world by encouraging youth participation in the game. Nonprofit organizations involved in youth baseball and softball programs are eligible for support. Grants may be used to finance a new program, expand or improve an existing program, undertake a new collaborative effort, or obtain facilities or equipment necessary for youth baseball or softball programs.
