2006 Showcase of Young Artists

The artistic theme for 2006 was, "What does Global Citizenship Look Like?" It empowered youth to visualize and realize a peaceful world by expressing the mission of Sister Cities International. During times of war and poverty, these young citizen diplomats demonstrated their commitment to global citizenship by creatively using artwork and film to reach out to individuals.

All entries were held on display in historic Union Station located in downtown Washington DC. The emotion and humanity depicted in the artwork inspired one individual to write directly to the artist. Washington, D.C. commuter, Rick Mastroianni said, "It made my spirit smile. I've seen many works of art, but I've never felt so compelled to try to contact an artist to simply say thank you for seeing what you saw and showing that to me," to "On the Bench" artist Dain Williams. The 2006 Young Artists Showcase had fourteen finalists.  Finalists were selected based upon their artwork's theme interpretation, originality and composition and included:
