Expression of Interest: Hosting the 2009 Sister Cities International Conference
For the first time, Sister Cities International plans to hold its Annual Conference outside the United States in 2009. The Annual Conference attracts between 500-800 attendees. Host sister cities are responsible for three major networking and social events during the Conference, in addition to providing outstanding hospitality. The Conference should be held in mid-July beginning on a Wednesday or Thursday and conclude on a Saturday evening.
Letters of Interest should be addressed to: Conference Department, Sister Cities International, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, NW, Suite 850, Washington, DC, United States of America, 20004 or emailed to conference@sister-cities.org. The following items should be contained in the letter:
- Why your city or area wants to host the Sister Cities International 2009 Conference.
- Expressions of support from city/national/provincial governments.
- Capacity of your sister cities organization to organize conference events, raise funds and/or garner in-kind contributions to support the conference and recruit volunteers.
- Availability and cost of hotel rooms (300+) and conference facilities.
- Availability of one-stop and non-stop air service from the USA to your city - please list all major U.S. cities from which service is available non-stop and one-stop.
- Concessions and cooperation that would be provided from your Convention and Visitors Bureau or equivalent organization.
- Proposed Conference dates in July 2009.
Letters should be received no later than December 1, 2006.
